Surfline.com Surf forecast

Plenty of storm action in the Under World lately with great swell energy aimed toward Mexico. Furthermore, that trend looks to continue over the next several days!

The current/fading SSW groundswell (185-205 deg) will continue to back down Thursday, then linger Friday through the weekend. On Thursday, the better exposed locations will continue to offer 3-5' surf with standout breaks occasionally pushing overhead sets in the morning on the best tides. Fri/Sat will offer mainly 2-3'+ surf wit occasional 4' sets for top breaks. New SSW groundswell takes over by Sunday (details below).

Another large/strong storm had recently spun out from under New Zealand, where it tracked across the South Pacific and pushed out another very solid SSW groundswell (190-210 deg shifting 185-200 deg). This new energy is due to charge Mexico on Sun/Mon (initially creeping in on Saturday) and peak Monday afternoon through Tuesday. At this time, chest-head-overhead sets will already show by Sunday afternoon/evening from the building swell. On Mon-Tues (14th-15th), expect plenty of head high to overhead surf across the well exposed locations of the region with 2-3' overhead to double overhead sets showing for top spots that focus this energy best. This swell starts to fade on Wednesday the 16th and thereafter, but plenty of leftovers on tap. Stay posted as we continue to track this swell through the South Pacific!

Further out; we're currently watching a large storm system develop off the southern end of South America, which will unfold further over the next couple days. This storm, although better aimed at South America, may potentially deliver a modest South groundswell for around the 18th-19th into Mexico. At this point, we're looking for waist-chest occasional head high surf to show from it at well exposed breaks of the region (mainly for southern MX). Stay tuned for updates as that is still pending storm development. NOTE -This swell will fill in first for southern areas (as early as the 17th), then gradually up the coast on the 18th. Also, this swell will be strongest for southern MX.

Beyond that; over the next few days or so, we'll be watching a large complex system move under and through New Zealand. This system will likely strengthen into a strong storm east of NZ and over the central SPAC by early next week with a good fetch for Mexico. If everything stays on track, then a good pulse of SW groundswell will line up for around the 23rd-24th of June.

Note: Add 2 to 4 feet sometimes more to the face size of the waves in the forecast for Playa Zicatela "Mexpipe" beach break!
